This role involves specialty work on fire trucks and ambulances in McConnelsville, OH, primarily in an indoor service and maintenance shop, with occasional field or outdoor work as needed.

Requirements

  • Diesel mechanic experience, preferably with heavy duty or emergency vehicles.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screening.
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, push, pull, crouch, and climb.
  • Comfortable with exposure to typical shop conditions such as noise, odors, grease, and occasional outdoor weather.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing malfunctions and determining the necessary repairs for fire and emergency equipment. This includes, but is not limited to the chassis, body, water pumps, electrical components, and engines.
  • Operate and inspect this equipment and evaluate the best course of action to return the apparatus to a safe operating condition.
  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using their own and company provided specialized tooling.
  • Repair, rebuild, overhaul, and replace defective assemblies and components such as gauges, air fittings, plumbing lines and valves, hydraulic lines, various pumps, and basic engine components.
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure operating efficiency and safety prior to releasing the apparatus for duty.
