Requirements

Diesel mechanic experience, preferably with heavy duty or emergency vehicles.
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to pass pre-employment screening.
Ability to stand, walk, lift, push, pull, crouch, and climb.
Comfortable with exposure to typical shop conditions such as noise, odors, grease, and occasional outdoor weather.

Responsibilities

Analyzing malfunctions and determining the necessary repairs for fire and emergency equipment. This includes, but is not limited to the chassis, body, water pumps, electrical components, and engines.
Operate and inspect this equipment and evaluate the best course of action to return the apparatus to a safe operating condition.
Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using their own and company provided specialized tooling.
Repair, rebuild, overhaul, and replace defective assemblies and components such as gauges, air fittings, plumbing lines and valves, hydraulic lines, various pumps, and basic engine components.
Test repaired equipment to ensure operating efficiency and safety prior to releasing the apparatus for duty.
