Requirements

  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues.
  • Welding and fabrication skills.
  • Language skills to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Mathematical skills with the ability to calculate figures and amounts using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior mechanical shop or manufacturing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and diagnose issues to maintain forklifts, loaders, and rolling stock equipment used on the property for sawmill or lumber treating facilities.
  • Perform routine service including oil changes, greasing, and tire rotations at set intervals.
  • Track runtime hours for every piece of equipment.
  • Inspect forklifts and loaders for leaks, malfunctions, or wear.
  • Repair damaged equipment, including hydraulics, lights, glass, and tires.
  • Respond to onsite breakdown calls to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues.
  • Process paperwork for parts orders, deliveries, work orders, and billing.
  • Coordinate with third-party contractors for specialty repairs.
  • Execute computer diagnostics, including fault codes, isolation tests, and Tier 4 regenerations.
  • Manage the inventory of spare parts and supplies.
  • Utilize proper lifting techniques and request team lifts when necessary.
  • Document required safety forms, checklists, and work permits.
  • Follow all safety policies and perform lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Report near misses, accidents, or hazards to supervisors immediately.
  • Maintain a clean workspace by sweeping floors and containing spills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
