About The Position

Audubon Metals is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Mobile Equipment Operator to join our team. As a Mobile Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for transferring loads of raw material and molten metal. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of equipment operations, possess excellent hand-eye coordination, and prioritize safety in all aspects of their work. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the efficient and productive operation of our facility while maintaining the highest standards of safety.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write legibly, and talk to others to convey information effectively.
  • Must be able to give full attention to what other people are saying, take time to understand the points being made, ask questions as appropriate, and not interrupt at inappropriate times.
  • Capable of completing basic math skills.
  • Must be able to remain visually alert to surroundings in the department.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Adjusting actions in relation to others’ actions.
  • Must have visual acuity to operator motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to frequently lift, carry, push and pull materials.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, squat, sit, balance, twist at the waist & neck, and/or crouch to perform work over the duration of the shift.
  • Must be able to function in a loud, dusty, hot, cold, or humid environment for the duration of the shift.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate and review with Mobile Equipment Operator leaving out for any equipment issues or concerns.
  • Inspect equipment before each shift to ensure proper functioning and report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel.
  • Transport materials within the worksite to between worksite or between different locations, ensuring the efficient flow of goods and supplies.
  • Accurately weigh all materials on the floor scale (with the loader) and ensure weight displayed on in-cab computer matches weight displayed on outside scale number.
  • Respond to in-cab computer in regards to charge material needed for each furnace.
  • Using the loader, remove full dross pans located in front of each furnace and place in the storage area outside.
  • Monitor dross pans temperatures.
  • Through use of a forklift, once dross pan temperature has cooled to under 300 degrees F, dump the material in the dross bin.
  • Perform scale verification at the beginning and middle of the shift with the certified weight.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance skills and stay up-to-date with industry best practices and regulations.
  • Follow organizational policies and procedures related to equipment operation, workplace safety, and environmental guidelines.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the safe operation of equipment.
