About The Position
The Port of Greater Baton Rouge is seeking a Mobile Equipment Operator to maintain grounds, ditches, and facilities within the port area. This role involves operating various heavy equipment, performing groundskeeping tasks, watering ships, and making minor equipment repairs. The position is part of a Career Progression Group and may be filled as a Mobile Equipment Operator 1 or 2.
Requirements
- No experience or training is required.
- Must have or be eligible to obtain a TWIC card.
Responsibilities
- Operates field tractors (over 52 Horsepower) with attachments such as bushhogs, belly attachments, blades, gang mowers, hoes, loaders, etc., used to maintain grounds, ditches, etc in the port area.
- Cuts grass, weeds, trees, and brush
- Picks up and disposes of trash collected from port property and facilities
- Water ships at port facilities
- Operates forklifts and backhoes, etc when necessary
- Make minor repairs to equipment and perform maintenance necessary to keep equipment clean and in good working order
