About The Position

Provides CDL-licensed transportation services and customer service to support blood drives. This role involves operating motor vehicles, packing and picking up blood products, assisting in the warehouse, performing vehicle inspections, and directing temporary staff. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a CDL Class B license, and the ability to maintain a safe driving record and medical certification. Candidates must possess basic computer skills, the ability to communicate effectively in English, and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment. The role also involves physical demands such as lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods, and working in various environmental conditions including potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens and confined spaces.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion and recertification of the organization’s driver training is required.
• Successful completion of CDL training and obtaining a CDL Class B (Commercial Driver’s License).
• Must maintain a valid medical exam certification and a safe driving record to meet auto insurability standards.
• Ability to read, understand and follow documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to organize work for timely completion
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
• Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work

• Tasks involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work, usually involving lifting, carrying, pushing and/or of moderately heavy objects and materials (up to 50 pounds).
• Tasks that require moving objects of significant weight require the assistance of another person and/or use of proper techniques and moving equipment.
• Tasks may involve some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, walking, auditory detection, standing for extended periods of time, and manual dexterity in the operating of phlebotomy equipment.
• Tasks involve operating a large vehicle.
• Functions are regularly performed inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as inclement weather, atmospheric elements and pathogenic substances.
• Performance of this job could expose the employee to blood-borne pathogens.
• Employee will experience close/small work spaces on mobile unit buses.
• Vibration and motion are common on mobile unit buses.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Responsibilities

• Provides transportation and support services for mobile blood drives including loading, unloading and setting up all equipment within time constraints
• Operates motor vehicles in compliance with all applicable laws; including driving blood mobiles as CDL Licensure and business needs permit
• Packs and/or picks-up blood and blood products from blood drives
• Provides assistance in the warehouse and stocking supplies and vehicles
• Performs daily vehicle inspections
• Assists in the daily direction of temporary staff as needed.
