Requirements

  • Diesel mechanic experience, preferably with heavy duty trucks or refuse vehicles
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screening

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining, repairing and/or replacing air and hydraulic brake systems including shoes, calipers, drums, rotors, and cylinders
  • Maintaining, repairing and/or replacing coolant systems including radiators, hoses, heater cores, belts, and related components
  • Maintaining, repairing and/or replacing refuse electrical systems including wiring, lighting systems, electrical control systems, switches, batteries, regulators, alternators, and black box systems
  • Maintaining, repairing and/or replacing running gear and drivetrain components including drive shafts, u-joints, and transmissions (automatic and manual)
  • Maintaining, repairing and/or replacing vehicle body components including windows, regulators, door locks, and related parts
  • Maintaining, repairing and/or replacing chassis components including wheel bearings, steering components, seals, and related parts
  • Performing quality assessments of completed repairs to ensure vehicles and systems are operating properly and safely
  • Accurately documenting repairs, labor time, and parts usage
