Requirements

Diesel mechanic experience, preferably with heavy duty trucks or refuse vehicles
Strong troubleshooting skills with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation
Ability to pass pre-employment screening

Responsibilities

Maintaining, repairing and/or replacing air and hydraulic brake systems including shoes, calipers, drums, rotors, and cylinders
Maintaining, repairing and/or replacing coolant systems including radiators, hoses, heater cores, belts, and related components
Maintaining, repairing and/or replacing refuse electrical systems including wiring, lighting systems, electrical control systems, switches, batteries, regulators, alternators, and black box systems
Maintaining, repairing and/or replacing running gear and drivetrain components including drive shafts, u-joints, and transmissions (automatic and manual)
Maintaining, repairing and/or replacing vehicle body components including windows, regulators, door locks, and related parts
Maintaining, repairing and/or replacing chassis components including wheel bearings, steering components, seals, and related parts
Performing quality assessments of completed repairs to ensure vehicles and systems are operating properly and safely
Accurately documenting repairs, labor time, and parts usage
