About The Position

Cox Fleet is seeking a Mobile Diesel Technician II to join their team. This is a dedicated on-site position focused on performing certified DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, light and advanced repairs, and other duties as assigned. The role involves working at the customer's site and requires advanced diagnostics and triage of complicated repairs, acting as a lead on job sites and a consultant for customers. A successful technician will comply with all company policies and achieve high performance metrics.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED and 5 years’ experience in a related field, OR any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline and 3 years’ experience, OR 7 years’ experience in a related field.
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
  • Must be at least 21 years or older due to interstate operating authority commerce regulations.
  • Must hold a valid state-of-residence driver’s license.
  • Must be eligible to drive in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements.
  • Must be able to successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain their Driver Qualification File (DQF).

Responsibilities

  • Perform certified DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, light and advanced repairs on trailers and equipment.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and perform repairs on various types of trailer equipment and systems including aluminum and chem-lite, trailer brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps and engines, liftgates, brake chambers, welding, fabrication, replacement of panels, body, and framework.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics and triage of complicated repairs.
  • Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on company-issued service truck.
  • Maintain and operate company-issued service vehicle, conducting safety checks and pre-/post-trip inspections.
  • Document work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders using a company-issued iOS device and the TRAIT application.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Work with a high degree of independence and manage own daily schedule.
  • Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary.
  • Communicate with management and support team for approvals, purchase order numbers, and RO findings.
  • Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health, and environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
  • Participate and complete all company-required safety training.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with assigned customers and vendors.
  • Assist Mobile Trailer Technicians I & II with diagnostics and inventory reconciliation.
  • Advise Mobile Trailer Technicians I & II on technical issues.
