About The Position

Encircle is seeking a Mobile Developer to design, develop, and maintain its iOS and Android applications for a B2B SaaS platform serving restoration contractors and insurance professionals. The role focuses on delivering a strong user experience and application performance, while collaborating with product, design, and backend teams from feature definition through release. The developer uses AI tools as part of the daily workflow for planning, coding, testing, reviewing, and debugging, and helps shape the team’s use of AI. The role includes end-to-end ownership of shipped work: monitoring performance, crash rates, and user impact, then iterating to ensure features work as intended. The developer also contributes to technical debt reduction, test coverage, performance, reliability, mobile CI/CD, API integration, code reviews, and production troubleshooting. Encircle is a remote-first company with a collaboration hub in downtown Kitchener, Ontario. The position may be performed remotely in Canada, with a hybrid option available in Kitchener.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional mobile development experience, including apps shipped to production on iOS and Android.
  • An established AI-first development approach, with specific examples of how AI has changed the candidate’s development, testing, and release practices.
  • Strong ownership, including examples of monitoring, iterating on, and improving work after it ships.
  • Hands-on experience building or automating mobile CI/CD pipelines, such as with GitHub Actions, Fastlane, automated testing, or app store release automation.
  • Proficiency in Swift and Kotlin, with working knowledge of Objective-C and Java for legacy code.
  • Experience with mobile monitoring and observability tools, including crash reporting, performance monitoring, or analytics.
  • Solid experience integrating with RESTful APIs and backend services.
  • Clear, proactive communication and a habit of raising risks early.

  • Backend or web development experience.
  • Experience with offline-first apps used in field conditions.

  • Use AI tools for planning, writing, testing, reviewing, and debugging code, and help shape the team’s practices for using AI.
  • Own work end to end by monitoring shipped features’ performance, crash rates, and user impact, and following up to ensure they work as intended.
  • Address technical debt, improve test coverage, and raise performance and reliability as part of everyday work.
  • Build and improve the mobile CI/CD pipeline to automate builds, testing, and releases.
  • Integrate with server-side APIs and collaborate with backend developers on API contracts and performance.
