About The Position

The Mobile Dental Unit Dental Assistant supports the delivery of quality dental care by assisting the dentist during clinical procedures, providing patient care, taking dental radiographs, maintaining infection control standards, and ensuring the efficient operation of the mobile clinic. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply to help facilitate communication with patients and improve access to care.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of chairside dental assisting experience, including radiographs, restorative procedures, and extractions.
  • Ability to operate dental radiography equipment and related software.
  • Knowledge of infection control, sterilization procedures, and patient safety practices.
  • Current CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to compassionate patient care and confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • Dental Assistant certification preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and open the Mobile Dental Unit for daily operations, ensuring equipment, supplies, and treatment areas are ready for patient care.
  • Assist the dentist during examinations, radiographs, fillings, and extractions.
  • Take and process dental x-rays in accordance with established protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and support clinical documentation.
  • Follow infection control, sterilization, and safety procedures at all times.
  • Coordinate patient flow and assist with operatory turnover and instrument processing.
  • Provide post-treatment instructions, educational materials, and community resource information to patients.
  • Assist with inventory management, supply monitoring, and equipment maintenance reporting.
  • Support volunteer orientation and provide assistance to team members as needed.
  • Complete end-of-day cleaning, sanitization, and clinic closing procedures.
