About The Position

This position is responsible for providing mobile and/or onsite mental health crisis services. Staff will provide crisis mental health intervention services to clients as part of the mobile crisis team and/or to clients presenting to University Health Emergency Department and other clinics within the University Health system. Staff in this position will be adept that providing brief, intensive crisis services with the goal of reducing the need for hospitalization, diverting from justice system contact, and assisting with other diversion activities.

Requirements

  • A Master's Degree from an accredited program in social work, psychology, counseling, or related human service field is required
  • 1 – 2 years’ experience working in a social services role
  • Expert level knowledge of psychiatric terminology and the process of mental illness and community resources
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the theory and practice of human services at the Master's level
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with multicultural staff and clientele
  • Trained in crisis intervention
  • If driving is a requirement for the employee, he/she must meet the requirements specified in the Fleet Driving Safety and Compliance Policy and must continue to meet these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Knowledgeable about the local system of care, including but not limited to the operation of the community providers, the Access Crisis Intervention (ACI) system, inpatient psychiatric resources, civil commitment procedures, and guardianship laws.
  • Completion of training as directed through orientation and/or by Leadership, Management or Educators in the established timeline for continued employment
