About The Position
This position offers a $2,000 (1 year stay-on agreement) or $4,000 (2 year stay-on agreement) Sign On Bonus with the agency, provided upon completion of a probationary period. There are also shift incentive opportunities: + $1.25/hour for hours worked 5pm – 12am and + $3/hour for weekends worked Friday 5pm – Monday 8am. Under the supervision of the Families Forward Crisis Services Coordinator or Supervisor, staff serves as a master’s level professional clinician performing crisis intervention services, screenings for psychiatric hospitalizations and intake assessments primarily for youth and their families in the office, emergency rooms, home, and other community locations. The role involves providing mobile crisis intervention as a team in the community with schools, police officers and other community providers for behavioral health stabilization. Recommendations for referrals to various Families Forward programs, program components and other services in the community are made. Consultation with service providers and case documentation are key responsibilities. The therapist will assess strengths by interviewing and observing consumers and their families, and in conjunction with the family, formulate a disposition that includes extensive safety planning. The role also involves answering the crisis line and providing verbal de-escalation and triage over the phone. Occasionally, adults will be seen for crisis intervention and prescreens. The therapist is responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in a manner that fulfills CMHA’S mission, policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field is required.
- Possession of an appropriate State of Michigan credential is required.
- One year of experience (professional or paraprofessional) in the examination, evaluation and treatment of children and adolescents with Severe Emotional Disturbance and their families required.
- Ability to communicate accurately and effectively both in writing and verbally is required.
- Candidate must be able to work well with others.
- Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and aces to reliable means of transportation for job related use is required.
- Employment offers for this position will be contingent upon the results of a background verification and credentialing procedure consisting of: Michigan State Police clearance check, undergo and pass a Central Registry Screening, verification of a professional license, Medicaid/Medicare verification, verification of an acceptable driving record, educational background check and verification of an acceptable work history.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.
