About The Position

American Para Professional Systems, Inc. (APPS) is a nationwide provider of mobile life and disability insurance exams. With over 100 offices across the United States, APPS is known for delivering reliable, professional, and high-quality service. When someone applies for life or disability insurance, the insurance company may require a medical exam. These exams are completed by independent contractors, not insurance company employees. APPS works with insurance companies to schedule and complete these exams accurately and on time.

Requirements

  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, and a mobile phone.
  • A professional appearance and positive attitude.
  • Strong phlebotomy and venipuncture skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic human anatomy.
  • Basic computer skills, including using printers and scanners.
  • Good organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to accurately collect and document medical history.
  • Understanding of HIPAA and the ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills when working with branch staff, clients, and insurance agents.

Nice To Haves

  • EKG experience is preferred but not required. Training is available.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting brief health screenings and reviewing medical history.
  • Recording information about medical conditions, surgeries, medications, healthcare providers, and provider contact information.
  • Measuring height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, and waist-to-hip ratio.
  • Collecting blood, urine, and occasionally saliva samples.
  • Performing blood draws using a two-tube vacutainer system (strong phlebotomy skills are required).
  • Performing EKGs with portable equipment when needed (training provided).
  • Preparing specimens for shipment and completing all required paperwork accurately.
  • Completing exams that typically take 15 to 45 minutes, depending on insurance company requirements.
