About The Position

MACOM designs and manufactures semiconductor products for Data Center, Telecommunication and Industrial and Defense applications. Headquartered in Lowell, Massachusetts, MACOM has design centers and sales offices throughout North America, Europe and Asia. MACOM has more than 75 years of application expertise with multiple design centers, Si, GaAs and InP fabrication, manufacturing, assembly and test, and operational facilities throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. In addition, MACOM offers foundry services that represent a key core competency within our business. MACOM sells and distributes products globally via a sales channel comprised of a direct field sales force, authorized sales representatives and leading industry distributors. Our sales team is trained across all of our products to give our customers insights into our entire portfolio. This position is for a Manager, MMIC Design Engineering.

Requirements

  • BSEE or MSEE with 10+ years of experience in MMIC amplifier design of RF and microwave MMICs
  • Knowledge of power amplifier design techniques
  • Working knowledge of ADS
  • Good understanding of RF test and measurement techniques
  • Must be detail oriented and able to handle multiple projects in parallel
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Candidates must be U.S. Persons (U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents, or individuals granted asylum or refugee status) due to ITAR regulations

Nice To Haves

  • Previous engineering management experience is preferred
  • Experience with AGILE is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on leader responsible for managing GaAs and GaN amplifier designs
  • Lead the Lowell amplifier design team (7 engineers)
  • Set timelines, budgets, and resources allocation to ensure timely execution of milestones
  • Manage product development from kickoff through product evaluation
  • Maintain projects in AGILE
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to team members and peers
  • Review MMIC designs and recommend design changes as necessary
  • Drive projects forward through the design and evaluation phases of product development to reduce time-to-market
  • Interface and collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g. Product Engineering, Quality, Marketing, Sales and Operations) to ensure manufacturable designs, quality requirements, and timeline goals are met for each product
  • Work with product engineering to transition projects from product development phase to product introduction phase
  • Support sales and marketing teams with feasibility studies and cost estimates to support proposals for new business development
  • Perform design work for the first 6 months to better learn new product development procedures and documentation requirements
