About The Position

This role involves taking an active role in maintenance and procedural deviations within the department, keeping the Lab Manager informed. The position requires using proper techniques for collecting, labeling, and handling lab specimens, and performing all requested tests and procedures according to guidelines. Responsibilities include performing scheduled and unscheduled instrument maintenance, troubleshooting procedural and mechanical control results, and accurately documenting all testing and quality control activities. The role also involves planning and organizing daily workload and demonstrating proper blood collection techniques for various age groups.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited program for MLT or MLS.
• Must be willing to follow BVRMC Standards of Behavior.

Nice To Haves

• Certification by American Society of Clinical Pathologists is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Takes an active role in maintenance and procedural deviations in their department and keeps the Lab Manager advised of such situations.
• Uses proper technique and procedures for collecting, labeling and handling of lab specimens.
• Performs all tests and procedures as requested under given guidelines.
• Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on instruments as required.
• Performs troubleshooting on procedural and mechanical control results.
• Accurately charts and documents all testing and quality control activities.
• Plans and organizes daily workload.
• Demonstrates proper blood collection techniques for age specific populations (infants, children, adolescents, adults and older adults).
