About The Position

Diagnostic Laboratory of Oklahoma (DLO) is seeking a Microbiology MLS/MLT I for their Oklahoma City, OK location. This position offers a $5000 sign-on bonus and operates on a night shift schedule, Monday-Friday from 8:30 pm to 7:00 am, with variable hours including rotating weekends and holidays. The role involves performing tests in microbiology, assisting with specimen processing, and maintaining instruments. The ideal candidate will possess general laboratory knowledge, computer proficiency, and understanding of QA/QC. Previous experience in Microbiology or Molecular Biology is preferred. A degree in Medical Lab Technology or Medical Technology, along with ASCP MT/MLT certification or eligibility, is required. Strong teamwork, customer service, and keyboard skills are essential. The position requires the ability to work 10-hour shifts, rotating weekends and holidays, and potentially overtime. Physical requirements include lifting objects up to 50 pounds with assistance, standing for long periods, frequent walking, and manual dexterity for using pipettes and instruments.

Requirements

  • General laboratory knowledge, including the ability to use computers.
  • Must have knowledge of QA and QC.
  • AS degree in Medical Lab Technology or BS in Medical Technology.
  • ASCP MT/MLT certification or equivalent or be eligible for national MT/MLT certification.
  • Ability to maintain a professional courteous and pleasant attitude in times of heavy workload and stress.
  • Teamwork with fellow employees is a must.
  • Keyboard skills are important.
  • Good customer service skills, professional appearance and attitude.
  • Must work overtime or other shifts if required.
  • Able to work 10 hour shifts, rotating weekends and holidays.
  • Objects 1 to 10 pounds are lifted and carried frequently; objects 11 to 25 pounds are lifted and carried occasionally; objects 36 to 50 pounds are seldom lifted or carried and objects over 50 pounds are not to be lifted or carried without assistance.
  • Ability to stand and work at the bench for long periods of time.
  • Frequent walking and/or standing.
  • May be required to use a wide variety of manual and automated pipettes and laboratory instruments and apparatuses all of which demand significant manual dexterity.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in Microbiology or Molecular Biology preferred.
  • ASCP Certification (Preferred)
