About The Position

The Diagnostic Laboratory of Oklahoma (DLO) is seeking a Part Time MLS/MLT I to join their team in Ponca City, OK. This position involves weekend work, specifically Saturdays and Sundays, with varied day and evening hours as needed, totaling 16 hours per week. The role requires adherence to laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analysis, and reporting, while maintaining accurate records and ensuring quality control. The ideal candidate will follow all relevant guidelines (CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, safety) and identify/resolve any issues that may affect test performance or results.

Requirements

  • AS degree in Medical Lab Technology or BS in Medical Technology.
  • ASCP MT/MLT certification or equivalent or be eligible for national MT/MLT certification.
  • 1-year Clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience in highly complex testing for those with BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology.
  • Ability to maintain a professional, courteous and pleasant attitude in times of heavy workload and stress.
  • Teamwork with fellow employees is a must.
  • Keyboard skills are important.
  • Able to work any day including weekends and holidays; able to flex hours and work overtime for other shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test result.
  • Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
  • Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures (see department SOPs).
  • Review and release test results.
  • Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines.
  • Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and all maintenance performed.
  • Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
  • Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, correct the problems encountered or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
  • Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
