About The Position

St. Mary's Medical Center is seeking a casual MLT or MLS for our HIMG Lab. The MLT/MLS, under the supervision of the Administrative Director, Laboratory Services, Section Supervisor or authorized designee, and pursuant to Federal Regulations, clinical oversight by the Medical Director or appointed Pathologist, performs laboratory tests in one or more of the fields of hematology, urinalysis, coagulation, biochemistry, microbiology, serology, and immunohematology in order to obtain data for use by the physician in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Performs and monitors daily quality control and instrument maintenance. Observes laboratory safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Currently licensed as a Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the West Virginia Department of Health & Human Resources (WVDHHR) if working in West Virginia. If not currently licensed in West Virginia, must obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • Completion of certification exam from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent licensing board is required within one year of employment, if not previously obtained.
  • No experience required if certified by the ASCP Board of Registry or eligible for certification, or recognized by the WVDHHR as technician or technologist.

  • Has successfully completed certification exam from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) (preferred)
