About The Position

Major League Baseball (MLB), in partnership with the Buck O’Neil Professional Scouts and Coaches Association, is launching the fifth edition of the MLB Scout and Coaching Development Program. The Scout Development Program aims to provide emerging talent with foundational scouting knowledge and tools to enhance their experience for front office and scouting roles. This program will take place during the Arizona Fall League from October 12-20, 2025. MLB will cover travel, lodging, and provide a stipend for selected participants. Applicants should have a career interest in scouting or baseball roles where scouting experience is beneficial. Additionally, for the fourth consecutive year, MLB will host twelve selected coaching candidates for a one-week Coaching Development Program (October 12-October 26). This program offers on-field coaching experience with an Arizona Fall League team and potential opportunities with other teams in Phoenix, Arizona (Bridge League, Instructional League, etc.). Virtual development training sessions will precede the in-person program in Arizona. Former players and current collegiate coaches are encouraged to apply. MLB will cover travel, lodging, and provide a stipend for this experience. Applicants should have a career interest in coaching or baseball roles where coaching experience is beneficial. MLB encourages applications from former players (MLB, MiLB) and players from MLB Partner Leagues (American Association, Atlantic League, Frontier League, and Pioneer League).

Requirements

  • Interest in pursuing scouting as a career or a career in baseball where scouting experience would be an asset.
  • Interest in pursuing coaching as a career or a career in baseball where coaching experience would be an asset.
  • Former players (MLB, MiLB) are encouraged to apply.
  • Players participating within MLB Partner Leagues (American Association, Atlantic League, Frontier League, and Pioneer League) are encouraged to apply.
  • Current coaches at the collegiate level are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Learn the basics of scouting.
  • Enhance existing experience for front office and scouting related roles.
  • Gain on-field coaching experience with an assigned Arizona Fall League team.
  • Gain coaching experience with teams in Phoenix, Arizona during their fall programming.
  • Attend virtual development training sessions prior to arriving in Arizona.
