About The Position

The iCloud Efficiency Engineer will help improve the efficiency of Apple’s cloud services by optimizing the design, deployment, and operation of iCloud services. The role involves analyzing infrastructure usage patterns and planning capacity to ensure scalability and reliability while minimizing resource waste. The engineer will collaborate with engineering teams, data scientists, and finance experts to develop and implement strategies aligned with Apple’s cloud sustainability and resource utilization principles. The work contributes to iCloud performance, service unit costs, and the customer experience.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering background.
• Experience with data-driven modeling, forecasting, and decision-making for cloud services.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively to cross-functional teams.
• Hands-on experience with platform observability tools.
• Experience developing cost models and strategies for software services to support optimal resource utilization and cost-effectiveness.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

• Demonstrable experience in capacity planning and resource optimization.
• Knowledge of machine learning pipelines and service monitoring tools.
• Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field.
