About The Position

Facilitate in the manufacture of quality brake pads. This role requires extreme accuracy and attention to detail in preparing batch mixes, with a knowledge of measurements and the ability to measure in kilograms. The operator must be able to discriminate between shades of mix and interpret all formulas and specifications for each style pad mix. Troubleshooting problems with 600 ltr and 71 ltr mix tank equipment is also a key responsibility. Extensive clean-up is required, involving the disassembling and reassembling of die components. The position involves performing quality tests such as moisture content, specific gravity, and appearance tests of the mix and test pieces. Strict adherence to the 5S concept is necessary to prevent contamination of mix compounds. Good organization and planning are essential to ensure all mix is available to meet production schedule requirements, utilizing a KanBan system. The operator must notify production and quality assurance supervisors of any problems affecting quality and complete all required paperwork.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently during a 12-hour period.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to talk or hear.
  • Ability to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands or arms.

Responsibilities

  • Using computer input data to read formula and measure compound.
  • Preparing batch mix with extreme accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Measuring in kilograms.
  • Discriminating between shades of mix.
  • Reading and interpreting all formulas and specifications for each style pad mix.
  • Troubleshooting problems with 600 ltr and 71 ltr mix tank equipment.
  • Performing extensive clean-up, including disassembling and reassembling die components.
  • Performing quality tests such as moisture content, specific gravity, and appearance tests of mix and test piece.
  • Following all safety guidelines with special emphasis on correct lifting procedures.
  • Wearing an N95 disposable respirator, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
  • Adhering strictly to the 5S concept to prevent contamination of mix compounds.
  • Organizing and planning to ensure all mix is available to meet production schedule requirements using the KanBan system.
  • Notifying production supervisor and quality assurance supervisor of any problems affecting quality.
  • Completing all paperwork to report production, use of raw materials, and quality testing performed.
  • Maintaining excellent attendance.
