About The Position

The Mixer Operator operates a mixer to support maximum production to BDS, ensuring concrete is batched on time with minimal downtime. The role involves coordinating with bed foremen and QC personnel to determine the desired concrete formula and volume, operating the batching computer, monitoring ingredient weights and mixing, and adjusting moisture or temperature as needed. The operator directs equipment operators to the appropriate mixer, discharges concrete into delivery equipment, manually mixes small batches when needed, and maintains the mixer and work area.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, or one to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

Follow all safety and quality rules and processes to maintain a safe working environment and produce high-quality products.
Communicate with bed foremen and QC personnel to determine the desired concrete formula and required cubic yards.
Select the formula on the computer, enter the required cubic yards, and adjust moisture content as necessary.
Monitor the computer to ensure components are weighed and mixed according to the formula.
Inject steam into the mixture as required to achieve the requested concrete temperature.
Direct Equipment Operators to the appropriate mixer.
Discharge concrete into delivery equipment.
Manually mix concrete when small amounts are needed.
Clean the mixer and work area daily, including chipping and greasing as necessary.
Substitute for Equipment Operators to deliver concrete as necessary.
Perform miscellaneous duties as directed by the Supervisor.
