About The Position

The Mixing Department is responsible for providing resin. The Mixer Operator sets up and operates all equipment related to the mixing of raw materials, accurately weighs ingredients to ensure consistent composition of all batches, and maintains proper temperature and mixing times. This role also involves recording required data, performing operations in receiving raw PVC resin, measuring PVC resin bins and blend silos, and reporting any unsatisfactory operating conditions. The operator is responsible for keeping equipment and the working area clean and orderly, using safe working practices, and reporting hazardous conditions. Additionally, the role may involve training inexperienced employees, directing the activities of others, substituting for absent workers, and performing various other assigned jobs.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Two years of mixing experience or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with computers and basic keyboarding skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Have ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Frequently required to walk, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or climb stairs, and to climb ladders and work at heights up to 50 feet.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and operates all equipment related to the mixing of raw materials.
  • Operates hand and power truck when necessary.
  • Accurately weighs ingredients of each to ensure consistent composition of all batches.
  • Maintains proper temperature of missing times, etc.
  • Records all required data on inventory, usage, mixing conditions, grinder, etc.
  • Performs the following operations in receiving raw PVC resin.
  • Measures PVC resin bins and blend silos and reports to supervisor.
  • Reports unsatisfactory operating conditions in equipment to supervisor.
  • Keeps equipment and working area clean and orderly.
  • Uses safe working practices and reports hazardous conditions at all times.
  • Trains inexperienced employees on the job as required.
  • Directs the activities of another when assigned.
  • Substitutes for absentee workers and performs other miscellaneous jobs as directed.
  • P.M. mixer on a monthly basis.
  • Performs other varies jobs as assigned.
