About The Position

The Entry-Level Water/Fire Technician supports the mitigation and contents team on active water and fire loss projects. This role assists with water extraction, structural drying, selective demolition, and fire/smoke cleanup, while learning industry-standard techniques and safety protocols under the direction of lead technicians and the Mitigation & Contents Supervisor. This is an ideal starting point for someone looking to build a career in the disaster restoration industry.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Valid G driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in physically demanding conditions, including kneeling, climbing ladders, and confined spaces.
  • Willingness to work flexible and varied hours, including participation in the on-call rotation.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in construction, cleaning, warehousing, or a related field.
  • IICRC WRT (Water Damage Restoration Technician) certification, or willingness to obtain within the first year.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Load, transport, and unload drying and extraction equipment (air movers, dehumidifiers, extraction units) to and from job sites.
  • Set up and break down equipment on active water and fire loss projects under the direction of a lead technician.
  • Keep the warehouse and company vehicles clean, organized, and stocked for upcoming jobs.
  • Extract standing water from affected structures using pumps and extraction tools.
  • Take and record moisture readings with meters as directed by a lead technician or supervisor.
  • Assist with structural drying setup and daily equipment monitoring.
  • Perform selective demolition of affected materials (drywall, flooring, insulation, cabinetry) as instructed.
  • Assist with cleaning soot and smoke residue from structures and contents.
  • Perform HEPA vacuuming and apply deodorization treatments under supervision.
  • Support contents pack-out and pack-back for fire and water loss projects.
  • Inventory, label, and carefully handle customer contents during pack-out and pack-back.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and organizing contents at the warehouse.
  • Complete daily job logs, moisture readings, and photo documentation as directed.
  • Submit accurate daily time sheets to the lead technician or supervisor.
  • Wear proper PPE and follow all safety protocols on hazardous material sites (mould, asbestos-aware, sewage, biohazard categories).
  • Work safely in residential and commercial properties damaged by fire, water, storm, and/or mould.

  • Attend required trainings and safety briefings.
  • Maintain respectful, professional interactions with homeowners and property occupants on every job site.
  • Report job progress and any concerns to the lead technician or supervisor.
