About The Position

The MiSTEM Network Region Director is a full-time executive leadership position responsible for directing and leading the work of a regional MiSTEM Network within the State of Michigan. The Director serves as the voice of the region at the state level, builds collaborative partnerships, aligns regional activities with statewide STEM strategies, and advances initiatives that support STEM education and workforce development. This position requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, collaboration skills, and a commitment to advancing inclusive STEM opportunities and statewide goals.

Master’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics
At least 7 years of relevant STEM business or industry experience

Nice To Haves

Doctorate degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics
A minimum of 10 years' experience working with STEM educational programming
Community engagement and community-building experience
Experience bridging education, business, industry, philanthropy, and community organizations

Responsibilities

Convene and connect state, regional, education, business, industry, and community stakeholders.
Lead the development of regional strategies aligned with statewide STEM vision and goals.
Represent the region in statewide MiSTEM initiatives and discussions.
Facilitate creation and development of regional collaborations supporting statewide STEM priorities.
Pursue, develop, and lead programs that advance regional and statewide STEM goals.
Identify innovative systems and experiences that connect STEM employers with educational partners.
Initiate, implement, and pursue state and federal grant-funded STEM initiatives.
Identify and coordinate resources that support STEM stakeholders and regional activities.
Manage budgets and ensure compliance with grant requirements.
Establish, convene, and support a MiSTEM Region Advisory Board.
Ensure equitable stakeholder representation and engagement.
Guide advisory board efforts toward regional implementation of statewide STEM strategies.
Gather, generate, and oversee analysis of relevant needs and impact data.
Evaluate STEM education and talent pathway outcomes.
Report progress and outcomes to stakeholders and funding entities.
Supervise staff and project teams.
Work with policymakers and government representatives on STEM-related initiatives.
Promote a common and inclusive understanding of STEM across the region.
