About The Position

This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol, San Diego Sector, Mission Readiness Operations Division, Workforce Management Branch, located in Chula Vista, CA. Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above. In this Mission Support Specialist (Workforce Management) role, you will become a key team member of Homeland Security individuals involved in planning and carrying out a wide variety of mission support, workforce management, administrative research, and program planning activities related to the missions and functions of the Mission Readiness Operations. This position starts at a salary of $102,246.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $132,923.00 (GS-12, Step 10).

Requirements

  • 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Generating, updating, and maintaining various reports, providing updated information for CBP's internal Table of Organization (TO) tracker. Coordinating with the supervisor and staff to ensure receipt of documents and that actions are completed in a timely manner. Generating reports to track spending, identifying and resolving payroll discrepancies, and forecasting expenditures based on trends and operational needs. Participating in studies and making recommendations related to workforce management activities.

Responsibilities

  • Performing general mission support-related duties such as addressing confidential matters related to staffing, performance, payroll and strategic planning, and serving as a point of contact for headquarters and sector staff on emerging trends affecting CBP and Mission Readiness Operations business process.
  • Carrying out projects and performing studies to address multiple substantive, interrelated administrative issues and problems.
  • Providing advice involving workforce issues to senior leaders, supervisors, and nonsupervisory staff.
  • Developing and coordinating hiring plans by obtaining input from program officials.
  • Developing and delivering briefings, project papers, status and staff reports, and correspondence to managers to foster understanding and acceptance of findings and recommendations.
