About The Position

This SkillBridge opportunity is with Raytheon Company, Managed by Collins Aerospace. RTX is a provider of SkillBridge Fellowship opportunities for transitioning service members to gain an in-depth understanding of the aerospace and defense business from some of the most respected leaders and engineers in the industry. SkillBridge fellows will not be eligible for any compensation during their fellowship, as they will continue to receive all military pay and benefits. As a Field Engineer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our GEOINT systems. This includes providing direct mission support of airborne ISR and space-based operations using dedicated ground control systems to monitor and control sensor and ground system health/status and quickly resolve issues as they occur. You will actively monitor, administer and troubleshoot complex GEOINT systems consisting of Linux, Windows, ESXi Docker, and Puppet. Perform incident reporting and logistics during problem troubleshooting and resolution. Support GEOINT post-upgrade efforts, in accordance with (IAW) technical data, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), and operating instructions (OIs). Perform pre-mission configuration tasks, including system checks, reboots, mission readiness testing, etc. Provide real-time GEOINT support to the customer, operators, and end-users. Position will be on-site 100% of the time at Beale AFB, CA. Willingness and ability to work a rotating shift schedule to support 24/7 operations.

Requirements

  • Active and transferable Top Secret/SCI U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • Security+ or higher DoD 8570 certification.
  • Typically requires a minimum of 3 to 6 years of experience within the Air Force DCGS or similar environment.
  • Experience in systems administration and software management within a complex technical environment, preferably supporting GEOINT or similar systems.
  • Linux, Microsoft Windows, ESXi, Docker, and Puppet experience.
  • Possess a strong technical proficiency with software management, system administration, and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical problems, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions.
  • Must be on Active-Duty orders in the U.S. Armed Forces.
  • Must be eligible to participate per DoD Instruction 1322.29.
  • Must have all TAP and transition requirements completed prior to the start date.
  • Must receive approval from Unit Commander or O4+ in the chain of command.

Nice To Haves

  • Air Force AFSC 1D7XX or 1NXXX background desired.
  • Ideal candidate will have a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or completed 2 years’ accredited coursework towards such degree.
  • Linux, Microsoft Windows, ESXi, Docker, and Puppet system administration.
  • Experience with military GEOINT domain to include airborne ISR sensors and Processing, Exploitation and Dissemination (PED) architectures.
  • Administration of COTS or GOTS software solutions used for GEOINT analysis (Socet GXP, Xplorer, Unicorn, mIRC chat, MAAS, etc.) or other OEM software (APS+, GSEG+, Crew Comm, etc.).
  • Experience administering VMware/Docker (containers, storage and resources) and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, OpenStack, etc.).
  • Familiarity with the Serena (SBM) trouble ticket reporting system.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with the customer, OEM, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to clearly articulate technical issues and solutions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a distributed team environment.
