About The Position

Stratolaunch is a technology accelerator that engineers operationally realistic testing at Mach 5+. Our air-launched, Talon testbeds are reusable, cost-effective platforms that enable routine access to the hypersonic environment. We deliver flight data critical to validating system performance and achieving rapid technology deployment. Together with our customers, we drive innovations that are imperative to advancing national security. The A&P Operations Quality Technician will be responsible for all inspection, auditing, and documenting related results, utilizing the skills and experience in aerospace maintenance. The candidate should thrive in a high paced environment and be comfortable with the design, development, and test life cycle of rapid aerospace R&D. As Stratolaunch expands our program base this person may be tasked to other, new projects and in the development of vehicles requiring the skills, knowledge and abilities utilized on this current project.

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in aircraft systems troubleshooting, fabrication, installation and maintenance preferred, Including multiple of the following: Fuel systems and components, Hydraulic systems and components, Pneumatic systems and components, Electrical / Avionics systems and components, Engine systems and components, Airframe and aircraft structures
  • Experience with line maintenance functions to include preflight, post flight, launch, and recovery of aircraft.
  • Experience fabricating, maintaining, replacing, or modifying aircraft structure or sub-systems such as Sheetmetal experience; bending, riveting, fasteners, treatment of metal, or changing large LRU’s & subs system components such as flight control systems, landing gear systems, pneumatic systems, etc.
  • Strong understanding and Discipling in FOD and tool control
  • Detail oriented – strong attention to detail
  • Ability to solve problems and adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Ability to work independently when needed, responsible, take the initiative to help train/mentor direct team members
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
  • Physically able to handle items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule

Responsibilities

  • Inspection and auditing of the installation, testing and maintenance of aircraft systems and components with typically zero workmanship defects including but not limited to: Fuel systems and components, Hydraulic systems and components, Pneumatic systems and components, Electrical / Avionics systems and components, Engine systems and components, Airframe and aircraft structures
  • Support configuration management documentation of procedures and Aircraft Maintenance Discrepancy Logs (MDL)
  • Perform Quality Audits of vehicles (including carrier aircraft) as required to support mission operations
  • Assure complete documented records of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance operations on aircraft to include inspections, repairs, Airworthiness directives, Modifications and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of aircraft systems, components, and structures to identify any issues or potential problems.
  • Assurance of the conformance to requirements of line maintenance functions to include preflight, post flight, launch, and recovery of aircraft.
  • Ensure proper and timely entry of maintenance performed in the Aircraft MDL
  • Able to interpret and follow Electrical Schematics for the installation of avionics components
  • Operate-related ground handling equipment utilized to service the aircraft when required
  • Able to work in confined spaces or heights greater than 25 feet as required
  • Able to effectively communicate and partner with Engineering in order to solve design/installation problems, reduce defects, and improve build time
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform in the capacity of a Subject Matter Expert (SME) applying expertise obtained through deep and broad industry knowledge acquired through years of experience or a combination of achieved higher education and related years of work experience within other companies.
