As NASA’s largest engineering solutions provider working together with NASA at centers across the United States, we have an exciting opportunity for a Gateway MER Integrator/Manager to support the MTIC contract embedded with NASA-JSC. Barrios employees actively participate in the growth of the commercial spaceflight industry through our partnerships with companies leading commercial space development, as well as successfully supporting NASA as our primary government customer. Our long history supporting Low Earth Orbit (LEO) on the International Space Station, and now Commercial LEO, lays the groundwork for future missions to the Moon through our work on Orion, Gateway, and the Space Launch System.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Engineering from an accredited Engineering school, plus fifteen (15) years of appropriate work experience
  • OR
  • BS Degree in Engineering from an accredited Engineering school, plus twenty (20) years of appropriate work experience
  • Leadership experience in the MER or real-time flight operations
  • Knowledge of product life cycle development, systems engineering & integration principles, and knowledge of associated engineering disciplines
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), integration, coordination, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with customers and stakeholders
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams)
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation

  • Work may involve sitting for extended periods
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs
  • Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary

  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required

  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others
  • This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Current or former flight controller certification
  • Working experience with Human Space Exploration programs (Gateway, ISS, Orion, etc.)
  • Experience with the integrated Gateway vehicle including subsystems and the interaction between those subsystems
  • Working experience of associated engineering disciplines that integrate to address complex engineering systems
  • Master of Science degree in Engineering
  • Knowledge of systems, tools, or initiatives that promote the digitization of the systems engineering & integration discipline, such as requirements management software (DOORS, DNG, JAMA, etc.), workflow management software (JIRA, Confluence, etc.), model-based systems engineering software (Cameo, MagicDraw, etc.), or other digital tools (SharePoint, Confluence, etc.)
  • Experience with innovation or process improvements projects and initiatives
  • Ability to independently manage multiple tasks concurrently

Responsibilities

  • Lead establishment of the Gateway Mission Evaluation Room (MER) and train to support the MER during real time operations
  • Lead development and integration of the Gateway MER facility into the Mission Control Center complex (includes but is not limited to activities such as voice loop setup, Mission Control access configuration, and other operational preparations)
  • Lead diverse groups of subsystems engineers in both near real-time and real-time environment
  • Develop, review, and comment on real-time processes, work instructions, procedures, flight rules, and mission documentation to ensure mission success and vehicle safety
  • Interact with all levels of management and engineering in the NASA Gateway program, NASA Engineering, NASA Flight Operations, and NASA Payloads organization
  • Support and/or lead Multilateral/Anomaly Resolution Teams (MARTs/ARTs), Failure Investigation Teams (FITs) meetings
  • Lead integrated teams supporting failure investigations
  • Support Mission Management Team (MMT) meetings
  • Support in conjunction with Orion and HLS MER(s)
  • Perform other duties as required
