About The Position

The Mission Design Tools Software Engineer will support the space program located in Houston, Texas. This role involves developing variable degree-of-freedom simulations and related software tools for NASA and commercial spaceflight programs. The engineer will also be responsible for developing, integrating, and testing new software enhancements and capabilities within mission design tools, creating software documentation for deliveries, and providing recommendations for improvements in software design and development processes. A key aspect of this role is supporting activities to bring mission design software up to Class C standards per NPR 7150.2 and maintaining it at that level, following established procedures. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
Experience in the space industry or Department of Defense/Department of War.
Bachelor's degree in the field of engineering.
1+ years of recent and related work experience.
Proficient in C++, Fortran, and Python.
Experience in product delivery utilizing source code management tools such as Git/GitLab.
Experience with implementing and enforcing software coding standards.
Experience in the full software lifecycle activities e.g. requirements, design, implementation, testing, and release.
Proficient in use of CI/CD tools and techniques.
Proficient in use of software task management/collaboration tools.
Experience with Agile frameworks, methodologies, and techniques.
Experience working in multiple environments including Windows, Mac, and Linux.
Ability to work in a team environment consisting of NASA civil servants and contractor employees.
Strong interpersonal skills to enable successful performance in a collaborative engineering team.
Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.
Must be team players with strong work ethics and must be culture oriented.
Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.
Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.
Must be organized with good time management skills and must be able to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.

Nice To Haves

Experience with NASA Software Engineering Requirements NPR-7150.2D or DO-178C.
Experience with NASA Software Assurance and Software Safety Standard.

Responsibilities
