About The Position

The Catholic Leadership Institute (CLI) is seeking a Mission Catalyst to join their team. This remote position serves the Eastern Midwest, with a focus on the Cincinnati/Louisville region. The Mission Catalyst will work with volunteer leaders and the Mission Advancement Team to achieve CLI's philanthropy objectives. This involves building relationships with current and potential donors, setting gift activity goals, and engaging volunteers in donor cultivation and solicitation. The role requires creating new donor relationships, upgrading existing ones, and managing current donor portfolios. The Mission Catalyst is expected to operate with faith, creativity, independence, and gratitude.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum of seven years of professional development experience in philanthropy.
  • Experience in closing major gifts of $25,000+.
  • Proficient in Raiser's Edge (or comparable CRM), with demonstrated skill in prospect research, wealth screening, and writing proposals and gift agreements.
  • Outstanding communication skills, including the ability to listen effectively.
  • Natural relationship-builder who can find and make connections between people's passions and the mission of the organization.
  • Self-starter who is persistent and flexible.
  • Organized individual who pays attention to detail and follows through with contacts in an appropriate timeframe.
  • Ability to manage a portfolio of 100-125 donors through the moves management process from identification to stewardship.
  • Meets a first-year fundraising goal of $500,000+, with growth targets in subsequent years.
  • Willingness to travel (4-6 times/month – 50% or more).
  • Experience in working with the entire spectrum of donors from loyal to new prospects.
  • Ability to use referrals, networking, and research to grow a portfolio.
  • Expresses ideas and thoughts in a clear and effective manner with internal and external stakeholders; willing to communicate new ideas.
  • Thinks and acts independently; anticipates what needs to be done and does it.
  • Self-directed and adaptable; manages change in procedures, assignments, and priorities independently and without disruption.
  • Gains the trust and respect of leadership, co-workers, and outside contacts; able to network to accomplish goals.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, cultivate, and steward potential and current donors with the capacity to make significant gifts to Catholic Leadership Institute through their time, talent, and treasure.
  • Engage current donors in meaningful ways to foster relationships and encourage continued support of CLI's work.
  • Identify new donor prospects in the database and involve them in a meaningful way to support a thriving faith community.
  • Prepare, deliver, and follow up on proposals and gift opportunities for major donor prospects in a timely manner, accurately assessing their interest and capacity.
  • Plan, implement, and track short-term and long-term strategies with the Mission Advancement Team to measure success and create accurate revenue, cash, and involvement metrics for the organization.
