About The Position

Northrop Grumman Advanced Weapons – Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Mission Assurance Engineer 3 or 4 to define and monitor the mission assurance program specifications and processes to ensure mission success of the Advance Weapons BU. Be a part of our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Advanced Weapon Systems. This position is required to be full-time, on-site in the Northridge, CA location. No remote/telework arrangement is available for this position. Applicants must have the ability to obtain a US Government DoW Secret security clearance. The Mission Assurance Engineer 3 or 4 supports the Advance Weapons by ensuring product, systems, and processes meet rigorous quality, reliability, safety, and mission-success requirements. The ideal candidate will assess the AARGM, AARGM-ER, and SiAW program performance and risks, and determine resources to ensure mission assurance with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, program management, and government stakeholders to identify risks, investigate nonconformances, and drive corrective actions throughout the product lifecycle.

Requirements

  • BS degree in engineering, physical science, mathematics, quality, or a related technical field; with 5+years of related experience OR MS with 3+ years of related experience. 9 years of experience are required in lieu of a traditional degree (for Level 3)
  • BS degree in engineering, physical science, mathematics, quality, or a related technical field; with 8+years of related experience OR MS with 6+ years of related experience. 12 years of experience are required in lieu of a traditional degree (for Level 4)
  • Experience applying structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis methods.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 Quality Management System certification process.
  • Experience implementing MRB (Material Review Board) standards.
  • Proficient in Root Cause Analysis tools, such as Ishikawa, FMEA, DOE, 8D, 5 Why, etc.
  • Ability to read engineering documentation and inspect drawings and parts lists, inspection plans, and supplemental instructions.
  • Strong analytical, technical-writing, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government (DoW) Secret clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, space, weapons, command-and-control, or other mission-critical systems.
  • Knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, AS9102, or applicable government and industry quality standards.
  • Familiarity with statistical process control, process capability analysis, and quality-performance metrics.
  • Experience with material review boards, supplier quality, first-article inspections, or production readiness.
  • Proficiency with tools such as TipQA, Jira, Confluence, CostPoint, SAP, Teamcenter, or comparable lifecycle and quality-management systems.
  • Lean Six Sigma, Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Reliability Engineer, or related certification.
  • Experience interacting directly with Defense Contract Management Agency representatives, government customers, or external auditors.
  • Current Control Account Manager (CAM) Certification.
  • Current US Government (DoW) Secret clearance

Responsibilities

  • Primary Mission Assurance interface to Program Offices and customers for Mission Assurance matters.
  • Escalations across all departments within MA.
  • PMO support
  • DCMA, TPO (China Lake), and PMX-242 (Pax). AF Eglan AFB.
  • Responsible for the implementation of Mission Assurance Principles across the program-life cycle to ensure compliance with Contractual, Regulatory and NGDS requirements.
  • Develop and implement mission assurance plans aligned with contract, customer, regulatory, program and sector requirements.
  • Lead or support failure investigations, root-cause analyses, and corrective and preventive actions.
  • Assess technical and program risks and recommend practical mitigation strategies.
  • Communicate mission assurance status, risks, and recommendations to program leadership and government customers
  • Participate in design reviews, test readiness reviews, manufacturing readiness reviews, program risk and opportunity boards, Corrective Action Boards (CABs), and Program Management Reviews.
  • Evaluate hardware, software, manufacturing, and integration activities for compliance with approved requirements and processes
  • Support material review boards and disposition nonconforming products in coordination with authorized engineering personnel.
  • Performs cost account manager (CAM) duties for Mission Assurance tasks on programs, including EVMS reporting and estimate at completion (EAC) updates.
  • Responsible for creating Mission Assurance labor Basis of Estimates (BOE’s)
  • Monitor quality performance via Quality Assessment Farmwork (QAF) and Intranet Program Review System (IPRS), and develop, create and execute Return to Green (RTG) Plans
  • Provides inputs on Quality performance for Contractor Performance Assessment Reports (CPARs).
  • Analyze quality data to identify trends, systemic issues, and improvement opportunities.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, test plans, work instructions, and change documentation for mission assurance impacts
