About The Position

Weir Marine Engineering is seeking a Missile Systems Analyst with current or former experience in naval warfare. This role involves performing flight modeling and simulation, supporting system design and software algorithms, assisting with waterfront and at-sea system integration testing, developing analysis toolsets, and analyzing the performance of naval missile and support systems used by the Royal Canadian Navy. The position is based in Halifax, NS, and offers a range of Operational Test & Evaluation (OT&E) services, including liaison with naval projects, initiating at-sea tests, conducting technical investigations, and validating system performance. Experience with the Royal Canadian Navy and the Naval Force Development field is desirable. The work environment includes office settings, occasional shipboard environments, outdoor work, and possible short-duration travel. Weir has operated the Naval Engineering Test Establishment (NETE) since 1953, a Department of National Defence (DND) facility with operations across Canada. Over 460 personnel support the Royal Canadian Navy and DND with test and evaluation services. Weir is also a global leader in mining technology, focusing on efficient and sustainable resource extraction.

Requirements

  • Must obtain a Government of Canada security clearance, which necessitates Canadian citizenship and a minimum of 10 years of continuous residence in Canada.
  • Master’s degree of engineering or science, ideally in a subject such as aerodynamic, missile guidance, or guided weapon systems.
  • At least two years of missile analysis experience.
  • Must be conversant with large data manipulation, software programming, and familiar with combat systems integration.

Responsibilities

  • Figuring missile engagement envelopes and edge-case performance.
  • Designing innovative and effective missile firing analysis tools.
  • Monitoring the performance of naval missiles and suggest improvements throughout equipment lifecycles.
  • Collaborating with other NETE analysts and naval staff, as well as industry scientists and engineers.
