Minor Source Air Permitting Engineer - EIT I

State of Colorado•Denver, CO
•Hybrid

About The Position

The Construction Permitting program reviews, processes, and evaluates air pollution permit applications for major, synthetic minor, and minor sources. This role conducts technical engineering analyses to estimate air pollutant emissions, evaluate pollution-control equipment, and determine whether sources can meet applicable air-quality regulations and standards. The program also evaluates emissions offsets, reviews basic air-dispersion modeling, determines applicable requirements such as PSD, NSPS, and MACT, updates emissions inventories, and provides regulatory interpretations and guidance. Under the guidance of a unit supervisor and more-experienced engineers, the Engineer-in-Training reviews construction-permit applications for sources such as mining operations, power plants, and internal-combustion engines. The position analyzes application data using mathematics, chemistry, physics, and engineering principles; identifies emission points; calculates emissions; assesses control measures, dispersion-modeling results, and regulatory applicability; and drafts permits and exemption letters. The role also communicates with applicants, the public, staff, and local agencies, participates in public hearings, and contributes to process improvements and professional development. The position is based at 4300 Cherry Creek S Dr, Glendale, Colorado. Hybrid work options may be available at the supervisor’s discretion and based on business needs. Applicants must be Colorado residents when applying and legally authorized to work in the United States; the agency does not provide visa sponsorship.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
  • Submit a completed State of Colorado application; applicants qualifying through education must attach transcripts or a diploma.
