About The Position

The Ministry Advancement Officer (MAO) is responsible for managing their assigned portfolio within the ministry-wide mid-level gifts program and contributing to the spiritual growth of mid-level donors. The MAO will work collaboratively with the EVP of Development and other Gift Officers to develop and implement strategies for specific mid-level donor relationships to achieve the mission and goals of East-West. In this critical position, the MAO's effectiveness is measured by completing weekly donor engagement goals and achieving annual monetary gift goals. This will be accomplished by collaboratively developing and executing an integrated strategy for raising ministry funds by cultivating authentic Christian relationships with existing and new mid-level donors. This individual will faithfully steward a portfolio of assigned donor relationships to increase revenues and utilize other creative means to raise both awareness and funds for the ministry. The MAO will utilize innovative and pioneering approaches to fundraising based on sound, biblical fundraising principles and best practices that fit the culture and philosophy of East-West and align with East-West’s Vision, Mission, Values, Statement of Faith, and Biblical principles. This work will be done in collaboration with the Development Team to ensure consistent messaging to external partners in order to effectively represent the vision and mission of East-West.

Requirements

  • Nonprofit development experience required.
  • Familiarity with development systems and processes.

Nice To Haves

  • BA degree or equivalent experience within discipline, highly preferred.
  • 2-3 years minimum experience working in a similar role, preferred.
  • 2-3 years of ministry/nonprofit experience, preferred.
  • Missions experience desired.

Responsibilities

  • Steward East-West relationships, donations, and assets.
  • Commit to growing in the knowledge of the Bible and its principles to communicate the same things with the East-West donors and prospects, including the power of the gospel, The Great Commission, and the call to Biblical generosity and Biblical financial principles.
  • Engage with the East-West donors and prospects in a loving, kind, and gracious way that honors God and serves others.
  • Actively and effectively solicit funds for the East-West ministry budget through mid-level donor relationships.
  • Regularly meet with donors and prospects for cultivation, encouraging Biblical generosity and solicitation.
  • Be willing to travel up to 25% of the time to meet with donors and prospects for cultivation.
  • Initiate and build authentic relationships with existing and new mid-level donors, including prayer, sharing personal testimonies of faith in Jesus Christ and service of His kingdom, and encouraging Biblical generosity.
  • Regularly minister to and communicate with donors through phone calls, letters, and emails, including sharing the stories and teachings of Christians around the world for furthering ministry and inspiration.
  • Establish a foundation for key leadership to form relationships with current and potential major donors.
  • Creatively use events, development team, missionary staff, and various forms of communication to increase donor engagement with the organization.
  • Prepare proposals, reports, and briefings for the solicitation and stewardship of mid-level donors.
  • Collaborate with the Development Team in identifying, managing, and cultivating individual prospects and donors.
  • Actively utilize fundraising database for donor management.
  • Maintain Integrity in record keeping in compliance with ECFA standards and Scripture.
  • Strategic collaboration with Recruitment and NEXT to increase engagement with colleges and universities.
  • Uphold a close and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
