About The Position

The Campus Minister for the Catholic Student Center at Washington University (CSC) in St. Louis is responsible for student faith and leadership formation, outreach, and evangelization. As a team, all Campus Ministers serve through one-on-one mentorship, retreats, evangelization programs, faith formation programs, service programs, and social gatherings. Campus Ministers live the Catholic faith in their daily lives, balance a Catholic theological background with ministry skills, and have strong communication, organizational, and planning skills. The Campus Minister will serve as a key resource for students focused on two primary areas of the Ministry, in addition to general pastoral ministry duties. 1. Student Outreach: Engaging students in relational ministry, providing support to students in their personal, spiritual, and relational aspects of their lives on campus and at the CSC, and connecting students to the community of faith at the CSC. 2. Evangelization: Form students as disciples and train them to share their love of God and the Church within trusting relationships. This role will report to the Director of Campus Ministry and collaborate with the Campus Ministry team and the broader CSC staff and community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, strongly preferred in theology, religious studies, or related field.
  • Minimum of two years of ministry experience with a college/university campus ministry or young adult ministry.
  • Practicing Roman Catholic.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team-oriented manner in all interactions.
  • Ability to adapt to change, be open to new ideas, take on new responsibilities, handle pressure, and adjust plans to meet changing needs.
  • Capacity to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when necessary, and be flexible with schedule.

  • Master’s Degree in ministry/theology or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outreach and spiritual support through one-on-ones, meals, presence, and evangelization.
  • Maintain a visible presence across campuses through participation in events and programs, and informal engagement.
  • Participate in Sunday and weekday Mass, including assigned roles.
  • Attend and support weekly student events (prep, execution, clean-up).
  • Participate in major CSC programs, including orientation, liturgies, development events, and graduation.
  • Provide presence and support at retreats and key student experiences.
  • Support student formation rooted in Gospel values and service.
  • Provide leadership formation through programs and mentorship.
  • Assist with retreat formation.
  • Assist in the formation of Kent Intern-In-Service participants.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and supervise Kent Intern-In-Service participants. Provide spiritual, professional, and personal formation.
  • Advise the Catholic Student Union Leadership Board. Mentor the CSU President. Guide the Core Community Chair in producing the annual Lenten Reflection Book.
  • Help lead the Upper Room Discipleship Program. Develop small group content. Give retreat talks. Form missionary disciples.
  • Recruit, train, and support Core Community leaders.
