As a Mining Engineer, you will perform the following duties: Permit Review: Review permit applications and draft Records of Decision for underground coal extraction Subsidence Analysis: Assess mining permits and proposals to identify subsidence risks and recommend protective measures Regulatory Evaluation: Identify regulatory concerns related to mining impacts and propose solutions Impact Monitoring: Monitor mine maps and evaluate mining progress to ensure compliance with laws and permits Technical Coordination: Work with specialized professionals to evaluate effects of mining on structures and natural features.

Requirements

  • Two years as a Mining Engineering Specialist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • Three years of professional experience in mining engineering, and a bachelor’s degree in mining engineering
  • Four years of professional experience in mining engineering, and possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists
  • Three years of professional mining engineering experience, and possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists
  • Graduate study in mining engineering may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
  • Possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license
  • Possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists
