About The Position
Option Excavating is hiring an experienced Mini Excavator / Skid Steer Operator to join our growing earthworks division. We're looking for operators comfortable working in tight quarters on commercial and civil sites, with experience in small-scale excavation, backfill, and site prep work.
Requirements
- Experience operating mini excavators and skid steers in civil or commercial construction.
- Knowledge of trench safety and excavation practices.
- Ability to work accurately around existing utilities, structures, and in tight access areas.
- Comfortable operating a range of attachments (buckets, breakers, augers, grapples, brooms).
- Ability to load trucks safely and efficiently.
- Valid driver's licence, Class 5 minimum.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable and safety-focused.
Responsibilities
- Operate mini excavators, skid steers, and related attachments safely and efficiently.
- Excavate, backfill, and grade to required elevations in confined and congested work areas.
- Assist with underground utility installation, service trenching, and hand-exposure work.
- Move and place materials, load trucks, and support crews on site.
- Work closely with gradepersons, labourers, and foremen.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and report deficiencies.
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
- Assist with maintaining productive and safe job sites.
