About The Position

Arcadis is seeking an experienced Mine Water Specialist to join our Canadian Mine Sector team to support our client’s technical mine water and treatment needs in British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Ontario. Direct mining sector project experience required. This is a client facing, technical role. This opportunity requires a dynamic individual with proven and direct mine water management and treatment experience. The individual must possess strong technical skills and client development skills, to assist Arcadis’ growth serving the mining sector in the above-cited geographies. Ideally, the candidate’s experience extends over the full mining life cycle at both active and inactive operations, from initial planning and permitting through mine closure. In this role, you will assist Project Managers (PMs) with environmental investigation, feasibility studies, preliminary and detailed engineering design, construction, and operations and maintenance. You will provide your technical expertise to projects, oversee the day-to-day activities of junior and mid-level staff; schedule and coordinate task resources and solicit guidance from senior-level technical staff and PMs.

Requirements

  • MSc Degree in environmental, civil, or chemical/process engineering; or related applied sciences field such as geochemistry or hydrogeology from an accredited university. Minimum 8 years of experience
  • P.Eng., or P.Geo., or P.Chem., is required for the province of practice.
  • The ability to effectively communicate through excellent technical writing skills and presentation of technical work to senior scientists, management, and external peers and clients is a requirement of the role.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience for this role includes serving both active and inactive mine operations, experience focusing on multinational mining clients, experience serving multiple phases of the mining life cycle, and experience on blended project teams involving multiple engineering and applied sciences disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to development and evaluation of alternatives for mine water management and treatment.
  • Prepare technical reports and work plans, and engineering design documentation
  • Assist in stakeholder engagement including communicating with clients and regulatory agencies, and third-party interests.
  • Coordinate and provide technical directions to analytical laboratories for routine and specialized testing methods
  • Provide technical support to industrial water treatment for other market sectors such as energy projects in Canada
