About The Position
Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Mine Ventilation Technologist at our Lalor Mine in Snow Lake, MB. This position is a 7/7 schedule and will report to the Chief Mine Engineer. There is a camp available while on shift for those who wish to drive in and out to Snow Lake. Please note that this opportunity is NOT a fly-in-fly-out position. Under supervision performs a variety of tasks associated with the design, drafting and maintenance of ventilation systems.

- Ventilation Technologist diploma
Responsibilities
- Conducts periodic ventilation surveys using standard equipment and methods to ensure adequate fresh air is being provided to all working places.
- Checks the condition of fans and bulkheads and initiates work orders for repair as required.
- Prepares drawings for ventilation systems.
- Designs ventilation systems usually in conjunction with Mine Planners.
- Recommends the selection of fans and heaters as required.
- Assists in the preparation of annual budget by estimating future ventilation equipment requirements.
- Conducts annual stench warning tests and dust surveys using standard equipment and methods and prepares reports.
- Conducts an annual air survey of air volumes and qualities for the mine and prepares reports.
- Updates ventilation maps, which show volumes and qualities.
- Maintains a record of all mine fans and heaters.
- Prepare emergency egress plans
- Bi-weekly ventilation report
- Gas monitoring
- Diesel submissions
- Ventsim and Microsoft products
- Ability to drive underground
- Performs other related duties as assigned
