About The Position

This is a developmental position designed to provide employees with hands-on experience and the technical knowledge necessary to progress within the Fleet Maintenance technician program. Mine Maintenance Technician 2 will work under the direction and guidance of experienced technicians, mechanics, leads, and supervisors while developing competency in mine mobile maintenance. The Mine Maintenance Technician 2 is expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to Safety, Excellence, Accountability, and Caring in all assigned work. Employees must follow established safety procedures, use required PPE, maintain good housekeeping practices, and immediately communicate unsafe conditions or equipment concerns. The technician is expected to take ownership of assigned tasks, maintain a clean and professional work environment, and actively develop the skills required to become a more technically proficient Fleet Maintenance technician. Successful performance in this position will be demonstrated through safe work practices, dependable attendance, quality workmanship, effective housekeeping, willingness to learn, and continued development of maintenance skills and technical competency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to speak, comprehend, read, and write English.
  • Ability to safely follow written and verbal instructions, policies, and procedures.
  • Commitment to safe work practices and maintaining a safe work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years in the mining industry
  • CDL with Hazmat endorsement.
  • Familiarity with mine mobile equipment.
  • Previous experience in mining, heavy equipment maintenance, automotive, or industrial maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Wash, pressure wash, and steam clean mobile equipment before preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards throughout Fleet Maintenance shops and work areas.
  • Sweep and clean shop bays, dispose of garbage and waste, and maintain organized work areas.
  • Assist mechanics and senior technicians with basic and non-technical maintenance tasks.
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance activities within demonstrated competency.
  • Assist with basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs under appropriate supervision.
  • Support equipment inspections and identification of visible defects or maintenance concerns.
  • Properly use and care for tools, equipment, and Fleet Maintenance resources.
  • Follow established maintenance procedures, work instructions, and supervisor direction.
  • Maintain accurate communication regarding assigned work and identified equipment concerns.
  • Participate in training and hands-on development to build mechanical and technical skills.
  • Demonstrate continuous progression toward the next level of the Fleet Maintenance technician program.
