About The Position

Build your career at US Aggregates! U.S. Aggregates is seeking a self-motivated and critical thinking intern to assist in continuous improvement and capital projects and activities within our 20 Indiana plant locations. The Aggregates Intern will work with operations, safety, sales, quality, and engineering teams to gain experience in each area as well as complete their assigned summer project related to helping U.S. Aggregates improve operational efficiency. The position will be located at our Indianapolis corporate office or one of the plants and may be expected to travel to site locations to complete assigned work tasks.

Requirements

  • High School or Equivalent Diploma required.
  • Sophomore or junior candidates currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Mining Engineering
  • Technical knowledge
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Self-motivation, time management skills and team orientation
  • Advanced Computer proficiency (AutoCAD, Microsoft Office including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Basic math skills
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Must be able to a background check and physical/drug test

  • Preferred 1+ years of work experience

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze daily operational procedures, metrics and trends at Aggregate sites to propose possible efficiencies improvements
  • Assist in conducting incident investigations including root cause analysis, coordinating execution of action items and continuous improvement activities
  • Work with Aggregates site Plant Managers and Quality Manager to review operating procedures and collect data to optimize production strategies
  • Completion of assigned project and presentation of accomplishments to the leadership team at the conclusion of internship
  • Prepare project justifications
  • Other duties as needed
