About The Position

The Mine Engineer Intern will support underground and surface mining operations in Arizona (or other sites as needed) by assisting with mine planning, production tracking, surveying, ventilation, ground control, and project design tasks. The intern will work closely with the mining, geology, and maintenance teams to gain hands-on experience in all aspects of mining & mine engineering, with an emphasis on safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. This internship is based in Arizona, Temporary housing near the mine will be provided while on-shift. Your schedule is 14 days on/14 days off. Requirements

  • Strong academic background in mine design, ventilation, rock mechanics, or mineral economics.
  • Basic understanding of underground mining methods and safety principles.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and adapt to changing operational priorities.
  • Be punctual. Report to work prior to the start of your shift with enough time to be prepared.
  • Be mentally and physically fit to perform your job each day.
  • Be willing to learn and assist with all mining related activities.
  • Be safety conscious and complete all work in a safe manner.
  • Ability to lift 25-50 lbs.
  • Ability to work on your feet for 12 hours at a time.
  • Comfortable working underground and in confined spaces.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Deswik, or other mine design software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily, weekly, and monthly mine planning activities.
  • Update mine layouts and stope designs using CAD or 3D modeling software.
  • Support drill and blast design, ventilation planning, and ground support layouts.
  • Participate in cost tracking and productivity analysis to improve mining efficiency.
  • Conduct underground and surface surveys under the guidance of engineering staff.
  • Update “as-built” maps and ensure accurate data is imported into mine planning software.
  • Install and maintain survey control points, lasers, and reference markers for development headings.
  • Monitor ore production and assist in tracking tons mined, grades, and dilution.
  • Work with the operations team to optimize mining sequences
  • Assist with ventilation measurements, ground control inspections, and equipment logistics.
  • Collect and organize production, survey, and ventilation data for engineering reports.
  • Prepare drawings, reports, and presentations summarizing project findings and results.
  • Support engineering staff in maintaining accurate databases and operational records.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures and promote a culture of safety.
  • Participate in safety meetings and assist with environmental and compliance documentation.
  • Observe and report potential safety or environmental concerns to supervision.
  • Work alongside engineers, geologists, and operations personnel to gain practical mine experience.
  • Take initiative in learning mine systems, procedures, and best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the successful and safe operation of the mine.
