Requirements

  • Certificate or Diploma of Technology in Mining with fifteen (15) years underground mining related experience or degree in Mine Engineering, or related field, with ten (10) years’ underground mining related experience.
  • Experience with Deswik, and Deswik.OPs would be considered an asset.
  • Must be well versed in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Power Query, and PowerBi.
  • Excellent interpersonal/relationship skills - ability to work and communicate with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization, written and oral.
  • High attention to detail, strong work ethic and excellent organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize duties and solve problems.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment with the utmost professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • A positive and proactive attitude towards teamwork and safety.
  • As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must possess a security screening document or equivalent document as defined by The Mines Regulations, 2018.
  • The successful candidate will be required to maintain their security screening document or equivalent document throughout their employment at their own expense and will be required to provide confirmation of same and advise the employer of any changes to, revocation of or suspension of their security screening document during the term of their employment.

Responsibilities

  • Creating, designing, and developing best practices regarding mining engineering processes, procedures, and practices to support the success of departmental targets.
  • Supporting various mine-engineering positions (planning, scheduling, ventilation, ground control, services, and projects).
  • Role modeling a safety program that promotes a culture of safety and health of all employees working in and/or with the Technical Services Department.
  • Taking on infrastructure projects, feasibility studies, equipment procurement, & preparing packages for capital expenses.
  • Creating & automating reports, analyzing data, combining mining costs/economics on mine performance, and providing technical documentation to support decision-making.
  • Supporting the mine operation with ice road procurement and resupply through accurate forecasting of required supplies.
  • Supporting the implementation of Deswik.OPs with the goal of creating seamless processes connecting mid-range plans with short-range plans and transitioning away from excel based mining data capture.
  • Working with business partners to calculate mineable reserves.
  • Engaging and interacting with business partners across the organization to identify and implement improvement and operational excellence opportunities.
  • Maintaining a high standard of quality in all work.
  • Assisting in the preparation of medium & long-range mine plans.
  • Adhering to programs, systems, and procedures in mine design that meet industry standards and continually seeking opportunities for improved design processes.
  • Interaction with entire Technical Services team to ensure team focus.
  • Creating a strong safety culture through engagement and empowering others.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the department.
