About The Position

Peter Lucas Project Management is seeking a motivated Mine Engineer-in-Training (Mine EIT) to join their team and support a client in mining operations. This role will focus on underground mine development planning and scheduling activities. The successful candidate will work closely with the Mine Engineering team to assist with short- and medium-term planning, production scheduling, and continuous improvement initiatives, all aimed at supporting safe and efficient mining operations. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career mining engineer to gain hands-on experience in an active underground mining environment while working alongside experienced technical professionals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering.
  • Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
  • 1–3 years of mining engineering experience, preferably in an underground mining environment.
  • Knowledge of mine planning and scheduling principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting multidisciplinary teams.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with mine planning software such as Deswik, MineSched, Vulcan, Datamine, or similar is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with short- and medium-term mine planning and production scheduling.
  • Support underground development planning and tracking of mining activities.
  • Monitor production progress and compare actual performance against mine plans.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports and planning updates.
  • Assist with ventilation, haulage, and development planning as required.
  • Conduct field inspections and collect operational data to support mine planning activities.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Geology, Survey, Geotechnical, and Maintenance teams to coordinate development activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve mine productivity, efficiency, and safety.
  • Assist in updating mine designs, schedules, and planning documentation.
  • Ensure engineering work is completed in accordance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and safe mining practices.
