About The Position

The Mine Engineer Co-Op supports plant technical and maintenance staff through advanced problem solving, data generation and analysis, calculations, and evaluations of plant processes. The role contributes to continual process optimization and supports engineering, quality, safety, and environmental needs at the plant. The co-op also communicates with employees across multiple organizational levels and helps prioritize work based on safety, production, return on investment, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

Be a sophomore or higher pursuing a bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Mining Engineering.
Have a GPA of 2.75 or higher.
Be able to function in an industrial chemical and mining environment.
Be proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Demonstrate the ability to quickly learn and implement processes and procedures.
Be able to work and communicate effectively with employees at all organizational levels.
Demonstrate problem-solving and analytical skills.
Have strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Have strong verbal, written, and listening skills.

Responsibilities

Support engineering- and quality-related plant requirements and needs.
Perform studies and evaluations to identify plant improvements and opportunities, including mass and energy balances, root cause analyses, and other projects as needed.
Communicate with management, plant operators, engineers, laboratory personnel, and contractors.
Support safety and environmental initiatives to protect employees and the environment.
Participate in prioritizing work based on occupational and process safety, production, rate of return, and regulatory requirements.

Maintain a clean work environment and comply with safety and environmental policies.
