Voces de la Frontera is a membership-based community organization dedicated to protecting and advancing civil rights, workers’ rights, and immigrant rights through leadership development, community organizing, advocacy, and empowerment. We envision a future where all people can live with dignity, opportunity, and freedom from discrimination; where families have access to quality education, healthcare, and safe working conditions; and where communities are empowered to shape a more just, equitable, and inclusive society. The Milwaukee Youth Organizer strengthens the Core Leadership of Voces de la Frontera’s youth arm, Youth Empowered in the Struggle (YES), by recruiting, training, and motivating student leaders in Voces’ organizational and campaign activities. The Milwaukee Youth Organizer also recruits and involves new youth leaders through providing direct assistance with DACA and college access. This position works closely with YES staff and teacher advisors to help high school YES leaders create functional school-based chapters that can get to scale to make a significant difference through youth-led campaigns for social justice. The goal of the position is to create a broad base of youth, mostly high school age, to work on youth-led campaigns for social justice. This position will include work for both Voces de la Frontera and our 501c4 sister organization Voces de la Frontera Action, as part of our efforts to support pro-immigrant legislation and electoral candidates and raise up the Latinx and immigrant vote in the critical 2020 elections.
