Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with industrial maintenance. Preferred a minimum of 3 years experience working in hardwoods/lumber industry.
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Must follow all established safety policies. Must have good safety record and a positive, can do attitude.
  • Be adaptable, work where needed as required
  • Willing to ask questions and work closely with Site Manager and Supervisors.
  • Must be able to work any shift -- overtime, weekends, holidays as required and in all conditions.
  • Capable of completing required documentation
  • Able to work as a team, get along with team members; give and take advice and criticism from other team members
  • Ability to take initiative on continuous improvement processes and find creative resolutions by identifying opportunities and boldly offering solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Must follow and promote safety policies and procedures and perform all work according to existing policies and procedures while maintaining a high standard of quality and workmanship in performing the duties.
  • Working knowledge of safety practices common to industry
  • Working knowledge of all mechanical systems, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical
  • Ability to change oil and grease
  • Ability to complete simple projects (changing bearings, sprockets, and chains)
  • Basic Welding Skills
  • Pipe Fitting Knowledge, able to thread and fit a pipe
  • Respond to, diagnose, and resolve plumbing emergencies.
  • Self-motivated, look for repair needs before breakdowns occur
  • Possess mechanical skills and knowledge (ability to recognize/resolve mechanical issues)
  • Ability to do general maintenance (cut, weld, change bearings, sprockets, chains)
  • Work unsupervised to safely complete a task or resolve any issues which may arise
  • Collaborate with maintenance team and Supervisor to improve overall performance of location
  • Have a strong desire, dedication, and determination to succeed, by continually improving skills through on-the-job training and various offered educational opportunities
  • Adhere to company safety rules and procedures
  • Assist other team members as needed
  • All other duties as assigned
