About The Position

Installs new machines or heavy equipment and dismantles and installs machines or heavy equipment when changes in the plant layout are required.

Requirements

  • Well rounded training and experience in the trade acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods of time, constant arm extensions
  • Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, etc., but non to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where likely result would be cuts, bruises, etc.
  • Enrollment into Biological Personnel Reliability Program (BPRP) with continuous progression
  • The contractor shall be enrolled in BRPB as identified in TE-15.0, the TB Surveillance Program, and the Respiratory Protection Program. For details and requirements on the Respiratory Protection Program and TB Surveillance Program refer to the 29 CFR Occupational Safety and Health Standards along with the CDC TB guidelines and EM 385.1.1.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and laying out work
  • Interpreting blueprints or other specifications
  • Using a variety of hand tools and rigging
  • Makes standard shop computations relating to stresses, strength of materials, and centers of gravity
  • Aligns and balances equipment
  • Selects standard tools, equipment and parts to be used
  • Installs and maintains good order power transmission equipment such as drives and speed reducers
  • General Housekeeping
  • Other duties as assigned
