About The Position

The Millwright is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment and facility systems within a fast-paced consumer food manufacturing environment. This role ensures the plant operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with food safety and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is hands-on, safety-focused, mechanically strong, and comfortable working with a wide range of processing and packaging equipment.

Requirements

  • Millwright Certification (433A) or equivalent - Industrial Mechanic
  • Three+ years of millwright or industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment (food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or CPG preferred).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with packaging, processing, or conveyor equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Skilled in mechanical assembly, alignment, precision measuring, and machine rebuilding.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in confined spaces when required.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional training in welding, machining, pneumatics, or hydraulics considered an asset.
  • Food manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of PLCs and electrical systems (not required but an asset).
  • Experience with welding and fabrication is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on production equipment such as conveyors, mixers, grinders, pumps, packaging machines, and other food-processing equipment.
  • Diagnose root causes of equipment failures and implement long-term corrective actions.
  • Install, align, and test machinery and mechanical components according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
  • Execute preventive maintenance schedules and document work performed.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce downtime and enhance equipment reliability.
  • Participate in predictive maintenance activities (vibration analysis, condition monitoring, lubrication standards).
  • Ensure all work meets plant safety standards and complies with food safety regulations (HACCP, GMP).
  • Maintain clean work areas to prevent contamination and ensure audit readiness.
  • Work closely with production, sanitation, and QA teams to reduce downtime and support continuous improvement.
  • Complete accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and parts usage in the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and participate in equipment upgrades or process improvements.
