About The Position

Griffith Foods is seeking a Millwright to join their Maintenance and Engineering team in Scarborough, ON. This role supports the continuous and efficient production of a food manufacturing facility through preventative maintenance and responsive troubleshooting. The position is for an existing vacancy and involves working the night shift, Sunday to Thursday, from 10:30 PM to 6:30 AM. Requirements

  • 3 – 5 years of work hands-on experience in a food or pharmaceutical production / manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking and troubleshooting skills with an eye for continuous improvement.
  • Strong ability and ability to drive action.
  • Specialized Millwright or Electrical Ticket training from a Trade certification program OR Manufacturing, Engineering or related education from a recognized Community College program.
  • 433A Canadian Millwright License or an Ontario 309A electrical construction & maintenance license is required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a food, food ingredient, beverage or liquids, pet food, pharmaceutical or specialty chemical production environment.
  • Current residence within a commutable distance of the Scarborough / Toronto location.
  • Willingness and ability to work onsite in Scarborough at least 5 days per week.
  • Must currently be at least 18 years of age AND possess unrestricted authorization to work in Canada.
  • Work visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
  • This is a safety sensitive position, and it requires the use of an N9 NIOSH-approved fitted respirator (“N95”) or an approved alternative.
  • Successful candidates will be required to go through appropriate fit-testing and will be required to wear an N95 while performing their duties.

Nice To Haves

  • Multiple disciplines/Dual ticket training from a Trade certification.
  • 3 years of experience and/or training in a CFIA-regulated manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on production equipment.
  • Use diagnostic tools and test equipment to identify equipment failures.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and document work using manual and computerized maintenance systems.
  • Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, pneumatic schematics, technical drawings, and manuals.
  • Install, set up, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation and production control systems.
  • Adjust and calibrate weighing systems, metal detectors, printers, and labeling equipment.
  • Complete welding and basic machine fabrication work.
  • Support production and engineering teams while following all safety requirements.
  • Operate and perform basic repairs on packaging equipment and related materials.
